JFIT Fitness Studio at the JCC Indianapolis
The JCC Indianapolis’ Marcia and Bruce Sklare JFIT Studio has the feel of a boutique fitness studio with the amenities of a large-scale fitness center. From state-of-the-art equipment to intentionally designed classes, there’s something for everyone!
While mid-level JFIT Strive classes are FREE for JCC members, low-impact JFIT Thrive and hardcore JFIT Drive classes are fee-based six-week sessions.
JFIT Studio Amenities
You may be a creature of habit when it comes to exercise, always gravitating to the same equipment or doing the same workouts. A personal trainer can introduce you to exercises you may have never done before or would never have attempted on your own. Plus, they balance out your workouts so you’re getting the benefit of a fuller, more well-rounded workout.
Group exercise is the perfect middle ground between working out alone and hiring a trainer. The instructors in group classes demonstrate each move and ensure that you’re using proper form. While JFIT Thrive and and JFIT Drive are fee-based sessions, JFIT Strive Group Exercise classes are free to members as a benefit of membership.
The JFIT Studio’s PowerSystems equipment includes a rubber/turf floor with sleds to push, TRX straps, boxing bags, self-motivated cardio equipment, battle ropes, and Bosu balls.
The J offers adults-only lockers rooms (ages 16+) featuring a steam room and sauna. For your convenience, lockers have keyless entry, so no need to bring your own lock. And our shower stalls have a door (instead of a curtain) for added privacy. Each stall has its own changing area. Separate from the locker rooms, we offer individual changing rooms with diaper stations and showers for those who prefer it. Visit our Policies page for more.
Want to make sure you get the same locker every time? Rent one! $10/month for a half locker or $20/month for a full locker can be added to your membership and will be automatically drafted along with your monthly dues. Just ask the Welcome Desk for a Locker Rental Agreement form.
Massage therapist Aubree Huber brings both spa and chiropractic experience to the JCC so is able to cater to whatever needs you may have. The massage studio is located in the Mordoh Fitness Center. Available to members and non-members.
The JCC is pleased to offer rental opportunities in the Marcia and Bruce Sklare JFIT Studio. Whether you’re looking for a space to conduct fitness workshops, group classes, or one-on-one sessions, the studio provides a flexible and supportive environment.
Rentals are $120/hour when hosted by a JCC staff member or $100/hour unstaffed (the group must include an individual age 18+ who is CPR-certified).

About Marcia and Bruce Sklare
Bruce and Marcia have been JCC members almost all their lives and have fond memories of spending time at the JCC with their children and other family members – in fact, it was on the JCC racquetball courts (that became the JFIT Studio) where Bruce introduced Marcia’s sister to her future husband. Bruce is a real estate developer who has spearheaded JCC initiatives like the former Kosher Deli at the Indiana State Fair and Earth Day at the J (now on its 12th year), and Marcia is a retiree who formerly worked as a bookkeeper for several nonprofits, most recently the ALS Association.
Fitness Is a Core Jewish Value
At the JCC, fitness isn’t just something we do; it’s who we are. Although exercise is not mentioned in the Torah, taking care of one’s health is. In fact, while other belief systems advocate for the healing power of prayer, Judaism encourages people to look after their health and seek counsel from medical experts. In Judaism, good health is not a goal in itself. Rather, it is a means to an end – to serve the Creator.
