Abs & Mobility
Strengthen your core and take your workout to the mat to lengthen, elongate and stretch muscles and joints to increase flexibility and mobility.
Ai Chi
“Tai Chi in the water,” Ai Chi is a warm water-based exercise providing total body strengthening and relaxation. It is the perfect way to relax while helping to improve range of motion and mobility..
Aqua Jog
A full-body workout that uses the full length of the pool. Water weights and dumbbells, as well as other provided aquatics tools, e.g., noodles, are used in the shallow end with jogging through water in the deep end of the pool using a water jogging belt, resulting in a great cardio workout.
Aquajoints
A water exercise class to develop range-of-motion through gentle exercises in shallow water.
Aqua Mobility / Aqua Yoga
Aqua Mobility and Aqua Yoga are performed in warm water in our Backer Therapy Pool. They follow the principles of yoga, including an emphasis on breathing, mindfulness, and balance.
Aqua Zumba/Aqua Cardio
Aqua Zumba is like Zumba, except instead of on land, it is performed in water, in our Regenstrief Indoor or Cohen Outdoor Lap Pool. It follows the principles of Zumba, including an emphasis on fitness moves and choreography set to music. Aqua Cardio classes are similar to Aqua Zumba but without the dancing (the music stays, but the moves are more traditional aerobics/cardio).
Balance Basics
Balance Basics is designed to help you become stronger and improve balance. The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee and hip joints, while improving your reaction time.
Bootcamp
A boot camp is a group fitness class that mixes military-style obstacle course training, strength training, and high-intensity cardiovascular work. Boot camps are designed to push participants to their limits through challenging total-body workouts. Classes typically last 30 minutes and are held outdoors or in a gym with minimal equipment.
BOQUA
BOQUA is aquatic boxing and simulates land-based boxing moves in a water-based environment. Taking place in the shallow end of the Regenstrief Indoor Lap Pool (or Cohen Outdoor Competition Pool in summer), it is a full-body, aerobic workout using provided boqs (a type of handled block that provides resistance in the water).
BOQUA Balance
Work on your core strength and balance in a strenuous but gentle workout.
BOQUA Bootcamp
Take BOQUA and kick it up a notch in this high-energy, high-intensity, moderate impact HIIT-style class!
Butts & Guts
Sculpt, shape, and strengthen your core muscles–abdominal, buttocks, and thigh muscle groups–in this targeted, high-impact workout.
Cardio Dance
Our dance classes at JCC Indianapolis are first and foremost cardio fitness classes with dance-like moves. The “cardio” part means working to achieve a target heart rate, increasing metabolic rate, burning calories, and improving stamina. The “dance” part is for participants to have so much fun, they don’t even realize they’re getting a great cardio workout!
Chair Yoga
Chair yoga, a gentle form of yoga that’s done while seated or using a chair for balance, makes the practice more accessible. In chair yoga, it’s possible to move into poses like cat/cow, warrior, sun salutations and forward folds, all while seated.

Deep Water/Aqua HIIT
Deep Water/Aqua HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) is exercise conducted while suspended in the deep end of the pool, alternating between bursts of high intensity output and moderate activity intervals. Participants exercise all muscle groups using the resistance and buoyancy of water and the resistance of their hand weights.
Fit For All
Fit For All is fitness fun for the whole family (ages 8+)! Kids and adults alike will have so much fun moving to the music you won’t even know you’re exercising.
Fit Joints Plus
A water aerobics program that works on range of motion.
Half N Half Yoga
This class spends equal time engaged in yoga exercises that provide deep stretching and strength-building.
HIIT
High-intensity interval training is a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods to provide improved athletic capacity/condition as well as improved glucose metabolism.
Hi-Low Aqua
Aqua interval training, a great cardio workout using the resistance of the water and water weights. Alternating between shallow water interval exercises and deeper water cardio, this class works to both tone and trim. All exercises can be adjusted for ability and swimming level.
Israeli Dance
Israeli dance is a fusion of traditional and contemporary dance styles reflective of the diverse culture of Israel. From Yemenite, hora, and debka to folk, salsa, ballet, hip-hop, (and more!), there is something for everyone. The dances are sometimes lively and energetic, sometimes lyrical and meditative. You don’t need any experience, just a positive attitude, a fun-loving spirit, and an open mind. The music will draw you in, the friendly atmosphere will keep you coming back.

Pilates Mat
Low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements that emphasize proper postural alignment, core strength, and muscle balance. Develop balance and symmetry, improve flexibility and coordination, and enhance lower back mobility.
Power Yoga
Power yoga is a fast-paced style of yoga that’s focused on building strength and endurance. It is also an excellent form of yoga for burning calories. This vigorous class helps strengthen your core/back, upper body, and limbs through power flows and various posture holds.
Restorative Yoga
This style of yoga encourages physical, mental and emotional relaxation by restoring the body to its parasympathetic nervous system function, which, in turn, helps the body rest, heal, and restore balance.
Rivercise
Rivercise is offered outdoors in the summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day in the 300-foot-long Biccard Lazy River at the Eskenazi Water Park. Participants walk and perform aquatics exercises with and against the current ̶ walking forward, backward, sideways, on your toes, and on your heels.
Silver Sneakers Boom
The JCC is one of more than 22,000 locations nationwide to offer SilverSneakers, a set of fitness classes geared toward senior citizens provided by Tivity Health. This class incorporates athletic exercises that boost your overall fitness. Move through muscle-conditioning blocks and activity-specific drills to improve strength and functional skill. For Active Adults.
Silver Sneakers Classic
The JCC is one of more than 22,000 locations nationwide to offer SilverSneakers, a set of fitness classes geared toward senior citizens provided by Tivity Health. Silver Sneakers Classic utilizes a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated or standing support.
Silver Sneakers Stability
The JCC is one of more than 22,000 locations nationwide to offer SilverSneakers, a set of fitness classes geared toward senior citizens provided by Tivity Health. Silver Sneakers Stability is focused on improving balance; this standing class uses chair support to advance cognition and fall prevention skills.
Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga
Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga is a form of vinyasa yoga that links the breath, movement, and poses together.
Strength Xpress
This class is aimed at total body strength, conditioning and endurance using weights, stability balls and other fitness equipment
Stretch Labs
Stretch classes, as the name suggests, are all about setting aside dedicated time to stretch your muscles.
Tai Chi for Health
Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.
Total Body BoxJUMP (Jump Rope/Shadow Boxing)
Get your heart rate up by jumping and punching your way through this cardio-heavy class!
Trampoline
Feel like you’re flying as you bounce on a mini trampoline (with handlebars to hold on to) and move to heart-pumping music!
Walk and Weights
Get your cardio in and do weight training at the same time!
Xtreme Hip Hop Step
Level up your aerobic step class by dancing to hip hop music in this energetic cardio workout!
Yoga for Energy/All Levels Yoga
Increase your energy and fight fatigue at the JCC Indianapolis with the yoga poses in this class which are designed to boost feelings of vitality and help to counter some of the effects of long periods of sitting.
Zumba®
Exercise and dance put together and set to Latin music. Steps include flamenco, merengue, salsa, reggae, and more! Summer Island Zumba takes places on the part of the pool deck encircled by the lazy river (Schloss [small] Gymnasium is rain backup)
The JCC has two indoor pools, Regenstrief Indoor Lap Pool and Backer Therapy Pool, as well as the outdoor Eskenazi Water Park, which includes the Cohen Competition Pool, Biccard Lazy River and Slides, and Mordoh Zero-Depth Pool. When deciding about closings or delays due to inclement weather, the JCC takes into consideration the safety and security of both members and staff.
- When Marion County and/or the City of Indianapolis declares an emergency and closes roads except for emergency vehicles only, the JCC will be closed–the facility, programs, and any rentals.
- Individual programs may have specific policies for inclement weather, based on staff and instructor ability to arrive.
- Parents of children in our early childhood education program and afterschool care programs may subscribe to a mobile app called Remini.
