Learn about your instructor:
Dr. Katherine Matutes is a registered dietitian nutritionist and has completed the certificate in training for Childhood, Adolescent and Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. As a registered dietitian, Dr. Matutes is licensed by the Indiana state medical board to provide specific calorie prescriptions for weight loss and other medical conditions. Her expertise includes healthy cooking, weight management, sports, cardiovascular and wellness nutrition.
Katherine received her nutrition doctorate from the interdepartmental nutrition program at Purdue University with an emphasis on molecular nutrition and food science. She also holds a master’s degree in science writing and communication from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Matutes is currently the dietetics internship director at the University of Indianapolis and has been a professor for eight years, teaching student athletes about food science, basic nutrition, sports nutrition, healthy cooking, and yoga.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, camping and traveling of all kinds with her husband and two college aged children. She has been an avid exerciser her entire life and tries to squeeze in her current favorite activities weekly: hiking, swimming, lifting weights and yoga.
