Passover commemorates the Israelites’ departures from Egypt and symbolizes the universal quest for freedom. The holiday spans seven or eight days, depending on the branch of Judaism, and begins on the night of a full moon in the spring. In 2024, Passover begins on Monday, April 22nd. Many American Jews observe Passover by attending a seder or ritual dinner on the holiday's first and/or second night. During this time, most American Jews also refrain from eating leavened bread and grain products as a remembrance of their ancestors' hasty departure from Egypt, which left no time for their bread to rise. Overall, Passover is a time to gather with close family and friends and engage in various traditions that connect the past to the present.
If you've always wanted to explore the world of watercolor painting, now is your chance! Register for the Beginning Watercolor Class with talented instructors Anna Roberts and Cheryle Lowe as they guide participants through the basics of working with watercolor paints. If your child is between the ages of two and five, be sure to register them for Jump Bunch Summer 2024! Over eight weeks, children will benefit from various interactive activities that focus on physical fitness, teamwork, and skill development during each weekly session. Registration opens May 15th for summer karate classes at the JCC Indianapolis for beginner and advanced students. Beginner classes will focus on the fundamentals of karate and self-defense, while the advanced class will provide in-depth training for more experienced students.
