Specialty Camps

Help your child build skills in the sports and activities they like best with a JCC specialty camp. Campers receive personal attention from experienced instructors, who focus on skill development, teamwork, creativity and fun!

All specialty camps make use of the JCC’s indoor and outdoor facilities. You can create a unique experience for your child by combining our specialty camps with general day camps.

Bricks 4 Kidz

Bricks 4 Kidz  |  Grades K-5

Open to Non-Members

Science & engineering concepts taught by building structures with LEGO® bricks. Choose from three themed one-week sessions.

Each day of camp will feature a teaching lesson covering a different aspect of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Math (STEAM) and then a model of the day inspired by that lesson. Bricks 4 Kidz kids will learn engineering skills using special tech brick LEGO parts like gears, axles, motors and more.

Week 2 (June 11-15)  |  “Brick Galaxy Far Away (Star Wars)”

Do you love Star Wars™ and outer space? Then grab your light saber and join us on an adventurous journey to a galaxy far, far away. This week will be packed full of models that will make your imagination blast off! Inspired by your favorite scenes from Star Wars, we’ll learn the real science behind the fiction while developing our master‐builder (and master Jedi) skills. Children will build motorized Star Wars vehicles such as the X‐wing Fighter and Tie Fighter, as well as their favorite characters such as Yoda, R2D2, BB8, Jedi, and more. Guided by the NASA space program, we’ll also explore life in outer space by learning about astronauts and building the International Space Station and other space vehicles.

Week 3 (June 18-22)  |  “Mining and Crafting (Minecraft)”

Running on “survival” mode? Get “creative” and join crafting forces with us! Experience the world of Minecraft in this interactive camp. Campers will begin by crafting their shelters using special Minecraft LEGO bricks. Each day campers will face new challenges building motorized models and crafting mobs, critters, tools, and elements from the popular Minecraft game. Participants will create and engage with a multitude of Minecraft models including Steve, Creeper, Chicken, Pig, Pickaxe, Zombie, Spider and more!

*Video game play is not part of this camp’s curriculum.

Week 8 (July 23-27)  |  “Pokemon and Friends”

Put down your game controllers and devices and get ready to build! If your kids enjoy LEGO building and gaming, they’ll love this camp. Join us as we bring the characters of popular card and video games to life Bricks 4 Kidz style. We’ll incorporate characters from their favorite games, including Pokemon, Mario, Sonic, and Angry Birds, as well as classic games such as PacMan and more! We’ll also have a special day dedicated to LEGO‐themed super hero games.

Participants utilize imagination, hand-eye coordination and STEM applications to conquer challenges and missions – all in a team-oriented environment.

Campers will take part in:

  • Real-world STEM application
  • Flight tutorials and basic programming
  • Reinforcement through repetition
  • Introduction to drone photography and film
  • Flight control and accuracy challenges
  • Drone racing and Timed-trials

Modding in Minecraft Game Design

Students will create powerful teleporting swords, amazing mobs, bows that shoot arrows that summon ender dragons, and other insane items, all through the power of Java programming! Perfect for both the beginning coder and the advanced Java aficionado!

This class offers thrills AND education. Students learn the ins and outs of level design and game design while learning to engineer in Minecraft by using Red Stone. Students even learn basic code commands too!

Mathcraft is the class where students are thrilled to do math! This class is a must for any parents who want their kids to enjoy math more and learn math more deeply. Students actually build math problems inside the game of Minecraft, and solve them using our one-of-a-kind, amazing Mathcraft program.

The JCC and Camp Chi are partners in a great new summer offering. Register for a minimum of two weeks of Camp JCC and qualify for a steep discount at Camp Chi. Camp Chi is a perfect foray into overnight camping!

A two day camp that takes campers above and below, on and in! Campers can look forward to exhilarating outdoors activities like mountain biking and kayaking. This camp is a must for the adventurous!

Day 1

The Indiana Pacers Summer Basketball Camps are at the JCC for their best season ever! Join us for expert instruction, fantastic giveaways and NBA excitement.

  • Improve the FUNdamental skills in all areas of the game
  • Concentrated basketball training, both offense & defense
  • Work on Individual and team skill development to become a better player

Equestrian Camp  |  Grades 3-8

Level 1  |  Week 2 (June 11-15)
Level 1  |  Week 6 (July 9-13)

Campers will head to the stables at Natural Valley Ranch in Brownsburg, IN, to learn all aspects of horsemanship, including grooming, tacking, mounting/dismounting, proper safety gear and safety precautions as well as riding technique. Each camper will have 2-3 hours of hands-on experience with their own horse in addition to plenty of riding time. Close-toe shoes and long pants required.

Week 7 (July 16-20)

Campers will learn from the golf pros at Golf Club of Indiana, who will give specific instruction to help improve your golf fundamentals, putting and chipping. Campers will also practice on the driving range and participate in contests and tournaments. Campers do not need to provide their own clubs. Learn more about Golf Club of Indiana.

Open to members and non-members. Join us on the courts at JCC Tennis Camp for a summer full of fun and games where you can improve your tennis game. We’ll participate in other sports to further improve strength, endurance and agility. The JCC tennis program is tailored to meet each player’s needs with drills, skill development, demonstrations and repetition.

Campers should bring a tennis racquet, non-marking tennis shoes, bathing suit, towel, extra shirt, sun block, water bottle, snacks and lunch.

Pro-Admit Tennis  |  Week 4 (June 25-29)

A chance for tournament players to get in some tune-up training before qualifying events and tournaments. Middle school campers may remain on the JCC campus with parent permission after 4 pm. Campers should bring a tennis racquet, non-marking tennis shoes, bathing suit, towel, extra shirt, sun block, water bottle, snacks and lunch.

Extended Care

Open to Non-Members

Grades K-5 | Mon-Fri, 7-9 am and 4-6 pm

Extended care is available for children attending JCC Day and Sports Camps for an additional fee. Extended care is available for sports camps up to grade 5 and only available with entire day tennis camp.

Extended Care Schedule

Before-camp Care | 7–9 am
Campers have time to hang out in the B wing and play board games, color, watch cartoons or head to the gym (after 8 am). Breakfast is served until 8:30 am.

Camp | 9 am–4 pm
Camp staff escort Extended Care Campers to and from their respective camps.

After-camp Care | 4–6 pm
Camp activities continue after regular hours with additional arts & crafts, sports activities or more time playing in the pool. If a camper would prefer to unwind after a full day of camp fun, they may relax and play games in our lounge. Additional snack provided.

Extended Care Location

Aftercare for grades K-1 will be in the B wing. Grades 2-5 will be based outside at the pavilion (or in the auditorium during inclement weather).
