Meet Elliott and Linda Gold

Looooooongtime Members

Elliott and Linda Gold are fixtures at the JCC and active builders of the community. Elliott has been a JCC member more than 70 years, starting when we were located at 23rd and Meridian St. Linda joined the JCC after she and Elliott married and moved here 56 years ago.

Involvement in Jewish Organizations

Elliott is currently a member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis board of directors and retired from JFGI in 2018 after 20 years, to the day, as the Campus Coordinator. Previously, he was on the JCC board for 15 years, serving as vice president for 9 years. And Linda is a life member of Hadassah.

Staying Healthy

Physically Healthy

Linda and Elliott work out at the JCC 2-3 times a week. Their exercise regimen involves starting with a walk together around the track. Then they do their own workouts which are a combination of upper body strength building, leg presses, free weights and the stationary bike.

A Healthy Mind

If you attend a JCC arts event, most likely you’ve seen Linda and Elliott there. They’re huge supporters of the J’s arts programs and, with Linda being an English teacher for 30 years at IUPUI and Ivy Tech, love all the author events.

A Healthy Marriage

The key to a successful marriage, Elliott says, is “respect each other. There are lots of ups and downs, but don’t give up. Nothing is perfect and we all learn from our experiences.”

More about the Golds

A few fun facts about Linda and Elliott:
  • Elliott says Linda is a great cook and he loves her chicken parmesan. When they do go out, they like Thai Select in Zionsville and St. Elmo’s.
  • Linda’s favorite books are Becoming by Michelle Obama and Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.
  • Together they watch movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime and all the rest. They like This is Us and the Chicago series of TV dramas (Chicago Med, Fire and PD).
  • They really like watching sports, IU basketball (they are alumni) and the Colts. Elliott watches the Pacers, but Linda’s currently ghosting them.
