JCC in early November

Early November is an exciting time full of many events at the JCC Indianapolis. The Ann Katz Festival of the Arts and Books kicked off on October 24 and runs through November 13. The festival features a variety of authors, film screenings, and art exhibitions. Today, we are highlighting some of the festival’s feature events.

Authors

Micheline Maynard is the author of “Satisfaction Gauruntted: How Zingerman’s Built a Corner Deli into Global Food Community”. Micheline will be featured at the event along with local Indianapolis restauranteur and philanthropist, Martha Hoover. This event takes place on November 1.

Dara Horn is the author of “People Love Dead Jews: Reports From a Haunted President”. The event will be held at congregation Beth-El Zedek (600 W 70th Street) on November 3 and we still have tickets available.

Lana Melman, who wrote “Artists Under Fire,” is another featured author. You will want to be sure to get tickets to this event which takes place on November 9.

Last but certainly not least, we have Samantha Vinokor-Meinrath, who is the author of “#antisemitism”. This event takes place on November 10. Get your tickets today!

Film

Another exciting event is the Indiana premier of the short film “The Book of Ruth," which will take place on November 5. Afterward, writer-producer-actor, Chen Drachman, will host a Q&A session for the audience.

Spirit and Place Art Exhibits

Holy Sparks is on November 7. This event celebrates 50 years of women in the Rabbinate and will be held at Indiana Interchurch Center.

Also, Blue Like Me features an Indian-Jewish artist and a female rabbi on November 13.

Music

Indyklez is a Klezmer concert with a post-event reception provided by Gadi Boukai, Talk to Tucker realtor/broker. This fun and festive concert will take place on November 12.

In addition to these thought-provoking and cultural events, fall is a great time to check out all that JCC has to offer. There are fitness classes, sports events, and dances at the Jewish Community Center.
