JCC Indianapolis invites you to connect, give, and grow as autumn arrives in the Circle City. From inspiring programs to community service and fitness opportunities, November is filled with ways to celebrate gratitude and a sense of belonging.
The 27th Annual Ann Katz Festival of Books & Arts continues through Wednesday, November 12, offering inspiring discussions that blend culture, belief, and shared experience. Don’t miss the final two events:
Discover how translation shapes faith itself. On Thursday, November 7, participants will compare English translations of sacred texts in small groups and examine how word choices across languages and centuries shape understanding and belief.
On Tuesday, November 12, hear Rabbi Gershon Schusterman share his journey through loss, faith, and healing. After losing his wife—the mother of their 11 children—Rabbi Schusterman found resilience and renewed purpose. In conversation with Megan Maurer, he reflects on finding meaning in suffering. Sponsored by Megan & Greg Maurer, this event closes the 2025 festival season.
Thanksgiving offers a cherished opportunity to bring Jewish values to life—gratitude (hakarat hatov), community (kehilla), and loving kindness (chesed)—through shared meals, service, and mindful reflection. As Rabbi Jessica Locketz mentions in her article, Working Jewish Values into Our Thanksgiving Observance, while Thanksgiving originated as a secular holiday, we can still infuse it with our traditions by turning it into “a means of teaching… one of our most important values: thankfulness.”
Maintain your energy levels as the weather turns cooler. Participating in group exercise classes helps keep you motivated and connected to others. Sign up for sessions that suit your schedule and fitness level.
Winter is the perfect time for kids to strengthen their swimming skills. Our aquatics programs offer classes ranging from StarBabies and StarTots to advanced levels, including Rotary and Integrated Movement. Instructors create a fun, safe environment that helps every swimmer grow in confidence.
Embrace gratitude, give back, and stay active this Thanksgiving season. Whether you attend a festival event, donate to the Turkey Drive, or join a fitness class, JCC Indianapolis is where community thrives.
