Fall Holidays and Youth Programs at the JCC Indianapolis

As the leaves change and the air becomes crisper, the JCC Indianapolis is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming fall season. Autumn brings not only vibrant foliage but also a special time for our Jewish community to celebrate a series of meaningful holidays. Today on the blog, we’re diving into the joyous festivities of fall Jewish holidays and introducing you to our exciting youth programs that promise to engage, educate, and inspire the next generation.

Celebrating Fall Jewish Holidays

Rosh Hashana is the Jewish New Year. It occurs between Labor Day and Columbus Day and lasts for one or two days, depending on the branch of Judaism. Rosh Hashana is a happy, festive holiday but more solemn than the American New Year. It is a time to look back at the past year and make resolutions for the upcoming year. It is also a wake-up call, a time to begin mental preparations for the day of atonement, Yom Kippur.

We also look forward to celebrating Sukkot or The Festival of Booths, and the Simchat Torah or Rejoicing in the Torah. From the perspective of the Bible and Jewish law, these holidays are every bit as important as Passover, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur.

Fall Youth Programs

Another reason to look forward to fall at the JCC Indianapolis is all the Youth Programs we have available! Browse our website's programs page to find several programs that will be sure to keep your kids busy this fall. We have tennis, martial arts, pottery classes, swim lessons, and dance. Be sure to register today before all the spots fill up!

Fall is a time of reflection, celebration, and growth within our Jewish community. At the JCC Indianapolis, we are committed to fostering a sense of togetherness and spirituality during this special season.
