As 2022 reaches its final month, events are still taking place at the JCC Indianapolis. Through the end of the year, there are still quite a few cultural, informational, and inspirational sessions to take advantage of. In early December we are offering several events focused on fitness and children.

Fitness

We are offering a Pickleball clinic which is a great way to try something new or refine your existing skills and have fun. If you are not familiar with this sport, it is a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton. Bring an item for Popsie’s Pantry for free entry! It is held on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 9:30 am-11 am at Arthur M. Glick JCC.

Kindergarten Panel

Dr. Jennifer Pleasure, JCC ECE School Psychologist, is holding a roundtable discussion focused on Kindergarten readiness. Dr. Pleasure is a licensed psychologist who graduated from Yeshiva University in 1999. She specializes in helping preschool-age children struggling with behavioral and developmental difficulties. This panel will include other experienced individuals ECE Pre-K teacher, Ms. Jenny, and ECE parent, Dan Drewry. This panel will be held on Thursday, December 8, at 6 pm at the Arthur M. Glick JCC, Laikin Auditorium. To RSVP, email Erica at ejohnson@JCCindy.org

Health for Youth

On December 10, 2022, we will be offering cardiac screenings for youth. This can help parents gain peace of mind and prevent cardiac arrest in teens. The non-invasive, life-saving youth heart screenings for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) use EKGs, limited (shorter) ECHO ultrasounds, and blood pressure checks for the screening.  The cost is $50 and financial assistance is available.

School Reminders

This a reminder that school is out for winter break starting  December 23, 2022, and will resume January 9, 2023.

December is also a great time to get a jump start on New Year's resolutions. There are fitness classes, sports events, and dances at the Jewish Community Center. The JCC has been an Indianapolis staple for more than 100 years and welcomes people of all backgrounds, faiths, and generations. Learn more about the JCC program schedules on our website or call us at (317) 251-9467.
