Ages 15+. Through this course, students learn to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatics emergencies and how to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
Participants must pass a pre-course session that includes: 300-yard swim, 20-yard swim to retrieve a 10-lb brick and return with it to the wall and exit the pool within 100 seconds and 2 minutes treading water without the use of hands. There are approximately 16 hours of online eLearning modules that must be completed prior to the first day of class.
Upon successful completion of the Lifeguard course, participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED. Attendance at all scheduled dates and times is required (9 am-5 pm both days).
PLUS: Work at the J’s Eskenazi Water Park May 28-Aug 17, and your $245 fee from this course will be reimbursed in August!
Must be new to the J (not returning staff) and average a minimum of 20 hours/week. Apply at JCCindy.org/employment, or get an interview on the spot at the JCC Job Fair on Sun, Mar 13.

For the morning of Wednesday, July 27, CampJCC will be using the Eskenazi Water Park for the aquatics portion of their Yom Sport competition, which means it will be closed to other users at that time.
To thank you for your patience and show our appreciation, once the water park opens back up, JCC CEO Eric Koehler will be grilling all-beef hot dogs and vegan parve franks for a tasty lunch in the sun! From 1 pm until the hot dogs are gone.

The last dip in the Eskenazi Water Park goes to the dogs!
All participants will need to sign a waiver: I understand that in order for my dog to participate in the JCC’s Doggie Dip, my dog(s) are required to be up to date on their vaccinations. I also attest to the fact that my dog does not and has not shown in the past, acts of aggression toward people, dogs or other animals. I understand that I am responsible for my dog’s behavior and safety during the course of this event and will not hold the JCC, its staff, guests, or patrons liable for any damages that may result from my and my dog’s participation in this event.
Some rules to swim by:
1. Each dog must have been registered and paid for before gaining entry into the facility. The owner/handler must be at least 18 years of age.
2. All dogs are required to be up to date on their vaccinations.
3. No leashes on while in the pool.
4. If your dog maintains an aggressive demeanor, you and your dog will be asked to leave the event without refund.
5. Owners must appropriately dispose of their dog’s fecal matter in designated areas that are provided. Be courteous to other guests and clean up your dog’s “accidents.”
6. Please help your dog into and out of the pool. Lifeguards will be on hand if you or they need assistance.
7. Humans are only allowed in pool to assist in getting dog in/out or to play with their dogs. NO Free Swim, Laps, or Walking.
For Sunday, September 11: 12:30-1:30 small dogs (<25 lbs) only. 1:30-3:30 all dogs welcome.
