Meet Our Personal Trainers

 

Dawn Bruh

Dawn is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT) certified personal trainer and a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer for 18 years. She received her Master’s of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb and her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Athletic Training from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion. She was a collegiate athlete in Women’s basketball, soccer and track and holds certifications in Lifeguarding and Lifeguard Training. Her passion is helping others with their weight loss journey, oftentimes a lifelong struggle.

Jordan Clevenger

Jordan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Movement and Sports Science from Purdue University. He is currently in his first year for a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Indiana University and is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. He worked as a personal trainer during his undergrad at Purdue. Jordan is passionate about interacting and helping others realize their true potential. Jordan has played basketball all his life and also loves being outdoors. He has helped people with improving their strength, flexibility, weight loss, and increasing their athletic abilities.

 

Carly Francis

Carly chose to become a personal trainer for two reasons: people and health. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy through IU, so she rehabilitates people through health and fitness every day. With a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Purdue University, she is able to provide answers to health questions based on the latest research. She has experienced a health and weight loss transformation herself, so she loves supporting others through theirs. Aside from fitness, Carly enjoys nature, art, travel, and family time. She has four little siblings ages 7–14, and she loves seeing them grow into their personalities.
Whether your goals include increasing strength, weight loss, rehabilitation, or preventative health, Carly would love to be a part of your journey!

 

Cara George

Cara graduated cum laude with honors for excellence in Health Promotion from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Exercise Physiology. Her personal training clients ranged from DOJ attorneys to members of the U.S. Marshal Service. Cara also served as a trainer for the White House Athletic Center. Simultaneously, Cara served as a yoga and strength instructor for the Jewish Community Center in Fairfax, Va as well as a prenatal fitness trainer for the Women’s Crisis Pregnancy Center in Washington D.C. Cara is dedicated to her clients and recieves no greater joy than seeing her customers attain their goals and be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle long after she has stopped training them.

 

James D. Gould

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Jim was “reorganized” in 2012 and reinvented himself into a “pre-retirement” career. He has been a member of the JCC Personal Trainer team since 2013. “I specialize in active older adults because I am one!” Jim believes it is never too late to get into shape and live life to the fullest. “I truly believe an active mind and body are the fountains of youth!”  Jim also trains adolescents and young adults. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer, James has certifications in SilverSneakers MSROM, SilverSneakers Cardio Fit, Group Cycling and Group exercise. “I keep fit to actively play with my five young grandchildren, not watch.”

Emily Guay

Emily obtained a Masters degree in Wellness Management and Gerontology from Ball State University. Her undergraduate degree is in Exercise Science and Fitness Management. She is an A.C.E. certified Personal Trainer who enjoys working with all types of people, but specializes in older adults. Emily believes it is never too late to improve your health and wellness. Her philosophy in attaining your goals is achieved through dedication; however moderation is the key to a balanced lifestyle.

 

Kyle Messer

Kyle Messer graduated from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. Currently in Indiana University’s Doctorate of Occupational Therapy program. Certification is through NASM. Has gained experience in occupational, physical, and cardiac rehabilitation settings prior to training at the JCC. Kyle enjoys engaging in physical activity, playing sports, dancing, and hiking.

 

Javan Odinga

Javan Odinga was born and raised in Kenya. An A.C.E. certified personal trainer and A.F.A.A. certified group instructor, he developed a passion for the world of fitness and bodybuilding in the early 90’s. He has 18 years of personal training experience on three continents: Africa (Kenya), Asia (Qatar), and North America, with a variety of clients who have different backgrounds and goals. He specifically loves working with those who want to lose weight, athletes, body builders, and the elderly.

 

Daniel Rasch

Born in Germany, Daniel played soccer for 25 years, 10 years as a professional. Suffering from many injuries, rehabilitation centers became a second home. Therefore he is very experienced with rehabilitation and rebuilding strength. Daniel is a certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and his passion for fitness plays a major role in his life. Daniel’s programming focuses on core stability and balance, strength as well as functional movement and is suitable for everyone no matter what age or fitness level.
As a Personal Trainer at the JCC, Daniel is excited to meet you to design an effective and efficient program that can help you to achieve your individual goals and lasting results.
